Education and Court Admissions
In 1989 Mr. Linde received a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin Summa Cum Laude, and in 1993 he received a Doctor of Law, J.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. In 1999 he received his post-doctorate degree in taxation (Master of Legal Letters or LL.M.) from Golden Gate School of Law in San Francisco, California.
Mr. Linde was first licensed to practice law in May 1993. He is currently licensed to practice law in California, Minnesota (inactive), and Florida. Mr. Linde is also admitted to practice law in the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
In California, Mr. Linde worked for one of the largest professional service firms in the world and gained significant experience in preparing income and estate tax returns for wealthy individuals and estates, as well as estate and tax planning.
In January of 2002, Mr. Linde moved from San Francisco, CA to work for the largest law firm in Lee County. Within a year Mr. Linde founded Matthew A. Linde, P.A., which does business as the Linde, Gould & Associates. Mr. Linde has been practicing law continuously in Florida since January of 2002.
Currently, Mr. Linde is a member of the Collier County Bar Association, Lee County Bar Association, Estate Planning Council of Lee County, the Florida State Guardianship Association, the State Bars of California, Minnesota (inactive), and Florida.
Mr. Linde is a member of the Florida Bar sections of Appellate Practice and Advocacy, Business, Elder Law, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, Trial Lawyers and Taxation. He is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and the Florida Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
From 2011 through 2014, Mr. Linde was a Barrister at the Calusa Chapter of the American Inns of Court. The Calusa Inn of Court's main purpose is to promote excellence in legal advocacy, as well as professionalism, civility and ethics in the legal profession through educational experiences.
Mr. Linde also was a co-chair of the Lee County Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section for three years ending in 2018 and also served for three years on the Board of Directors of the Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc. Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc. is a non-profit corporation formed in 1986 in response to the Florida Supreme Court’s mandate that a program is created to identify and offer assistance to bar members who suffer from substance abuse, mental health, or other disorders which negatively affect their lives and careers.
Mr. Linde has recently been appointed by the new President of the Florida Bar to serve as Chair of the Elder Law Certification Committee for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This committee is responsible for processing applications for board certification and preparing and grading the certification exam. It is an honor to serve on this committee.
Mr. Linde lives in the Moorings in Naples, Florida with his beautiful wife Michelle.
